Default 404 Errors when connecting

This error code, 99 times out of 100, means that you have some form of software or hardware firewall installed between you and the Activeworlds servers. In order to connect to the Activeworlds Universe, be sure to allow internet access for either aworld.exe (which will be found in the folder you installed Activeworlds in) or IP port 6670.

We've assembled this collection of FAQs per product here

ZoneAlarm

Understanding Windows Firewall

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Firewall Troubleshooting

Trend Micro PC-Cillin

McAfee General Support

Look 'n Stop (French)

This list will be updated as we find more self-help pages for consumer products.

Thank you, if anyone else would like to contribute to this page, I'd happily accept anything relevant to the topic. Personal work-arounds, sure-fire solutions, figuring out oddities and all that.
