Activeworlds Fights Cancer

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, an overwhelming amount of people are affected by cancer each year. As that number continues to grow, the battle against cancer struggles.

This year, Yellow will be hosting a Virtual Cancer walk as part of a cancer awareness weekend August 21st-23rd.

Q: What is a virtual cancer walk?

A: Yellow's "Virtual cancer walk" is a great opportunity to offer support to others and to show your support in the fight against cancer. The walk its self will take place in Yellow world August 22nd and will be one of many events featured in Yellow's cancer awareness weekend. Along the walk trail information will be provided about different types of cancer. Also information about leading charities that specialize in that particular type of cancer and how to donate to the cause.


Q: What is Yellow's Cancer awareness weekend?

A: Yellow's Cancer awareness weekend will be filled with events, starting Friday August 21 and ending Sunday, august 23rd. Events such as trivia, arcade games, live entertainment (via VOIP), contests, Music and dancing. The featured event will be the cancer walk, on Saturday August 22nd. A event full event schedule will be provided at a later date



Q: What is the goal of This event?

A: The goal of both "Cancer awareness weekend" and the "Virtual cancer walk" is not only to raise awareness, but to educate and show your support for others. Links to donate to Charities (such as St. Jude children's hospital) will be provided throughout the events.


Q: Do i have to donate to be a part of this event?

A: Donations are appreciated but never forced. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this event

At first, from what I read from title above, I thought it was some thread talking pessimistically about health of Active Worlds. Turns out I'm wrong. *phew!* LOL!

Anyway, good to see you doing this thing. Very noble of you to undertake this effort. I wish you good luck and may the Lord bless you for that!

Very nice Digigurl. 2 of my uncles died from Cancer. Keep reminding everyone about this and ask Flagg to put the banner on the rotating signs in AWGate and AW world. Might need a square banner instead though and bigger letters. I hope to make it there.

I have lost, that I know of offhand, 2 uncles, an aunt, my wife and at least 2 cousins to various cancer forms (liver, intenstinal, bone, ovarian, not sure what else).
And we have lost far too many AW citizens to cancer, with many others actively fighting it now.
This is a good cause all around.

My late grandmother, may she rest in peace, is a cancer survivor before she succumbs to Alzheimer's for a few years prior to her passing away. I really missed her for a long time and will still do. But I can thanks the Lord that she had lived long life out before time comes for it. Many do, but there's also many who don't get that chance.
