"3D Internet". I've been thinking about this term a lot lately. We seem to have forgotten about it, so I'd like to explore what it means, in terms of AW past and present and web interaction in general. Active Worlds claims to be the home of the "3D Internet", but what does this term really mean?

Well we all (err, most of us) love AW for various reasons. For some it's home. For others, things like building and chatting are still relaxing, even through so many years or decades (hehe) they've been doing it. Yes, the userbase is dwindling. Yes, you could say that there are many aspects of the browser, the website, and AW in general that are many years outdated. But then there's the perspective of people new to the VR scene. And we wonder: just how do other people view AW, and how does AW stand...

The AW SDK is written and built for 32-bit architectures. Any program that uses it must also be written for a 32-bit architecture. On a 32-bit system, this is no problem. However, on a 64-bit system, you have to tell the compiler to build a 32-bit version of the software you build. With php_aw, this software includes PHP and any external libraries you want to include in PHP. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to do just that, so you can start writing bots in PHP and running them on a 64-bit Linux...

Last night I began development on a new bot project, which I'm calling Odin. This application is to be based on my OmniBot project, which was never fully publicly released. Odin will have all the same major features OmniBot had, plus more. Odin will be cleaner and more organized (I'm working towards a possibly totally-OOP framework). Single-file scripts will be replaced by scalable self-contained plugins (which may contain any number of files in a clean managable way).

There are probably already a couple of tutorials on this, but oh well. This is the way I've found to fix this issue.
Are you having problems with transparency in gif and png images? Seeing the sky, ground, or other objects through your images? This is the result of a render order bug in the Active Worlds browser. The browser draws the wall (or sign or whatever is behind your gif or png picture) first. Then it draws your transparent picture on top of the scene. The problem is, it has...
