I'm not normally like this, But I need to let off some steam....

<insane rant>

ROAARGGGHHHHHHHH!!! It has been just under a week since the conclusion of
my Exams, and have had some time in
the last few days to return and visit AW again, As I feared... The last few
days that I
have stood here at Alpha World GZ, Most of the time it has been absolutely
dead silent! There seems to be a chronic lack of people in AW as a result
it's beginning to feel like the much dreaded ghost town I was fearing AW
might turn into when AW announced their controversial pricing plan. The
majority of my friends no longer seem to show up, either because their cits
have expired or can no longer be bothered, How do we prop up the population
without destroying our own bank accounts?! Showing friends this place and
getting them to join is like squeezing blood out of a stone. When
mentioning it's $150 NZ/year. Their response is always along the lines of
"Err, okay, erm err... perhaps not this time..err. I'll think I'll just
leave now and do something else"
We need more people here! How do we get more people here?! ARGH!!
or should I just give up already?

</insane rant>

*sigh*

There...Feeling a little bit better now.

I have a horrible feeling that Multi-user 3d chat probably has passed it's
time and is now nothing more than an overhyped dream.

Although since Early 2002, the AW population hasn't really shrunk, It hasn't
really grown either. The population is being spread more thinly over more
worlds, giving the impression that things are dying. History tells us that
this probably wouldn't change and we will likely see another event in the
future that will make the population count decline even further. The AW
community is already too dead and a lot of the fun has been taken from out
due to the dismal population count. AW can have all the bells and whistles
it's like but if there isn't enough people, it's no fun.

There.com and Lindenlabs.com I feel will probably fail to reach
expectations/targets and may even fall out of the sky in a ball of firey
flames, however I would really like them to prove me wrong and demonstrate
that my pessimism about Multi-user 3D chat is unwarranted.

I have to admit, I still have a craving for 3D, but non of these multi-user
systems fulfil my requirements anymore. AW could have filled it, but is
simply to dead, Atmosphere, fulfils the community side of things, but still
lacks the ability to create large worlds and places without lagging things
down, plus their builder software is still relatively primitive in it's
features and ease of use. Infact sometimes I wonder has the Atmosphere
project been secretly suspended?

This Web in 3D has been touted for such a long time and still nothing of any
real substance has materialized. That said, I've probably suffering the
longest drought in the History that I've been in AW

Again I lament... IT'S TOO BLIMIN DEAD IN ACTIVEWORLDS!
Without the People it's just ISN'T FUN anymore, what's the use of logging in
to a multi-user system only to continuously build in solitude all the time?!

But for now... I'll still come on occasionally to build, but most likely
only up until September where I'll just let my citizenship lapse.
